Your new role
Hays is proud to be recruiting for a committed and proactive Welfare Officer to join a dynamic team supporting Service Users (SUs) in Cheltenham. This is a hands-on role focused on delivering high-quality support and ensuring compliance across initial accommodation settings. You'll manage a caseload of SUs, conduct welfare checks, maintain property standards, and work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure a safe, supportive environment.
- Manage and support a caseload of Service Users within Initial Accommodation.
- Conduct regular welfare checks and maintain engagement.
- Ensure health and safety compliance across accommodation sites.
- Inspect properties and report defects or maintenance needs.
- Replace/repair inventory items in line with contract requirements.
- Address safeguarding concerns and follow company procedures.
- Liaise with local support agencies and partner stakeholders.
- Support mobilisation and decanting processes as directed.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with KPIs.
- Participate in service development and continuous improvement.
Location: Cheltenham
Hours: Average 40 hours per week (Shift pattern including nights and weekends)
Salary: 15.00 p/h

- Experience in accommodation, housing, or support services.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work flexibly, including nights and weekends.
- Understanding of safeguarding, equality, and diversity.
- A collaborative and professional approach to service delivery.
You'll also need to be adaptable and resilient, able to remain calm and professional when faced with challenging situations. A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable individuals, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential.
