The Role

As a Graduate Speech and Language Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with pupils aged 5–19 with autism, communication difficulties, and additional learning needs. You’ll support students 1:1 and in small groups, helping them develop essential communication skills and build confidence in the classroom.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting pupils with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN).
• Delivering targeted interventions set by Speech and Language Therapists (SaLTs).
• Encouraging confidence, independence, and social interaction.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists.
• Assisting with daily routines, learning activities, and progress monitoring.

Person Specification

• A graduate in Psychology, Speech and Language, Education, or a related field.
• Interest in speech and language therapy, SEN education, or child development.
• Previous experience supporting children with SEN (desirable but not essential).
• Strong empathy, patience, and communication skills.
• A proactive and adaptable team player.
