Summary

Recreation Ranger

Location: Various Forest Sites | Full-Time | Regular Weekends and Bank Holidays Required Introduction

Do you thrive in nature and the outdoors? Do you want to play a key role in protecting and enhancing people's experience of our forests?

As a Recreation Ranger, you'll be at the heart of making our landscapes safe, welcoming, and unforgettable for visitors. From inspecting woodland trails to leading volunteer teams, no two days are the same.

This role combines practical, hands-on work with people-focused responsibilities, ensuring that everyone who visits has an inspiring and safe experience.

Key Duties
  • Inspect trails and facilities, carry out maintenance, and work with engineers and estates staff to keep everything running smoothly.
  • Ensure safety of visitors and staff by handling live incidents and conducting risk assessments.
  • Build relationships with local businesses, support events, and help grow the recreational offer.
  • Supervise volunteers, contractors, and staff, leading work parties and visitor welcome teams.
Requirements
  • Practical, hands-on approach and willingness to work outdoors in all weather.
  • Strong people skills and ability to lead volunteers and teams.
  • Flexible and happy to work weekends and bank holidays as part of a rota.
  • Good communication skills and proactive attitude.
