Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Hand Therapy team as a Band 4 Assistant. We are a busy clinical area specialising in Hand and upper limb conditions and injuries.
Although as a Unit we are a large multi disciplinary team including Doctors, Nurses Therapists and Extended Scope Practitioners, this role is to support the Occupational and Physiotherapists.
Working under the supervision of qualified therapy staff in the Pulvertaft Hand Unit, to undertake a variety of tasks assisting with therapy treatments.
The post holder will carry an independent caseload in relation to helping patients with rehabilitation of hand condition as part of their rehabilitation programme.
The hours for this role are:
• Monday - 8-5
• Tuesday 9-6.30
• Wednesday 8-4
• Thursday 8-4.30
• Friday 8.30 - 1
To work with a minimum of support and direction from qualified therapists to manage individuals or groups of patients as part of treatment and rehabilitation programmes.
Such tasks may include:
• To manage a clearly defined workload/caseload of patients with minimal support from the delegating therapist and to have responsibility for patients in that caseload.
• To teach and supervise exercise programmes.
• To assess, issue and teach the use of walking aids.
• To fit and teach the use of appliances / splints for agreed conditions.
• To direct/supervise moving and handling of patients in line with Trust policies
