The Musculoskeletal Therapy Team at Florence Nightingale Hospital, Derby, is looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Therapy Assistant to work within their team.
The post holder will work with and support the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Team, in providing assessment and treatment to the range of patients receiving rehabilitation in the department, with the aim of maximising independence and physical function. The post holder will also be required to work across site at the Royal Derby Hospital to support the patients' attending hydrotherapy.
The team is looking for a motivated, organised Therapy Assistant to support patient care in an out-patient environment. They must show the ability to be flexible within their working day and show initiative and be mindful of the wider teams needs and workload. Proven team skills are essential for this role as is the ability to work independently. A desire to help people in their recovery and motivate them to reach their potential is a key part of this role also.
Basic IT skills are desirable for administration duties.
Recent experience of working in a care setting is desirable. Good interpersonal and communication skills are required along with the ability to motivate and encourage patients with physical needs.
• The job role will include welcoming patients in the MSK Therapy department at FNCH and in hydrotherapy at RDH
• In the department will support the qualified OTs and PTs in the treatment of patients with a musculoskeletal condition. This will include undertaking delegated tasks with patients and supporting in group sessions once competencies achieved, documenting patient attendances and supporting with equipment checks and maintaining the equipment where necessary
• In Hydrotherapy you will be expected to support patients attending hydrotherapy, completing health checks, supporting patients attending the pool with mobility and dressing.
• You will have some responsibility for organising clinic lists, notes and recording outcomes, maintaining and using equipment and stock levels
