Summary


Applications are welcomed for this position within the Haringey Personality Disorder Pathway. This is an exciting opportunity for the successful applicants to develop skills and confidence working with clients with personality disorders in a highly supportive environment. You will work closely with a range of mental health professionals and will have the opportunity to undertake a variety of tasks to contribute to service provision.

The PD Pathway provides a service for patients with Personality disorders that fall within Clusters B (mainly those with EUPD/borderline, narcissistic antisocial or other mixed PD traits) and who are requiring multi disciplinary care and treatment

The multi disciplinary team consists of psychological therapists, CMHNs, social workers, OTs and AMHWs. The Pathway works closely with the generic community Core teams and acute services.



Within the PD Pathway the successful applicants will have a broad range of duties; including contributing to the provision of both group and individual psychological work, undertaking defined pieces of work within a Structured Clinical management framework, and auditing and managing spread sheets for the team. There are also likely to be opportunities to contribute to service development and research.

Clinical Supervision for psychological work will be provided by senior clinicians and caseload management work will be supervised by senior members of the team. The Pathway aims to foster a supportive environment for staff and personal and professional development is well supported. There are opportunities for assisting in assessments and other psychological treatments such as MBT and DBT.

In order to meet the needs of the Trust you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington. The Trust reserves the right to require staff to work at such other places or locations as it considers reasonable and necessary on a temporary or permanent basis.

Clinical:


1. Assist in the delivery of care and treatment for a case load of service users in the community with cluster B personality disorder under the supervision of a registered professional, in close collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, service users and other community agencies.

2. Participate in the assessments of clients including structured assessments, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care.

3. To assist in the facilitation of psychoeducational and exploratory groups.

4. To be able to exchange complex information with clients, families, carers, staff and members of the public using sensitivity and empathy and ensuring collaborative working.


5. To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary clinical meetings.

6. To initiate referrals to other health professionals in specialist services and agencies when required.

7. To ensure practice is supported by research and evidence based practice.


Teaching, training, and supervision

1. To attend all mandatory training and ensure own continued professional development, supporting a culture of learning in self and others.

2. To receive regular clinical supervision and attend appraisals in accordance with professional practice guidelines.


3. To develop skills and competencies that assist in the delivery of current duties.

4. To assist in the training and support of other staff as required.


Management, recruitment, policy and service development

1. To assist in the design and implementation of service development projects as required.

2. To attend meetings in which service developments are planned and discussed.


IT responsibilities

1. To ensure accurate recording of actions and updating client records, maintaining confidentiality at all times.

2. To be able to send and receive emails, including attachments.

3. To be able to competently use a word processing package.

4. To have good working knowledge of database packages.


Research and service evaluation

1. To assimilate data as required with regards to care pathway and waiting times.

2. To assimilate and analyse pre and post treatment measures to reflect good practice, evidence based practice and practice based evidence.

3. To be instrumental in developing data base systems that can effectively report on psychological provision using a variety of parameters.

4. Audit information to be communicated in an accessible and transparent format.

5. To assist in the design and implementation of audit and research projects.

6. To undertake data collection, analysis, the production of reports and summaries, using IT and statistical programmes.



General

1. To attend and support business meetings in the pathway

2. To produce relevant information for colleagues and clients on psychology and services offered.

3. To contribute to the development and maintenance of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes, in consultation with the post holder’s professional and team/operational manager(s).

4. To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing in accordance with professional codes of practice of the British Psychological Society and Trust policies and procedures.

5. To undertake specific administrative duties as required.

6. To perform other duties of a similar kind appropriate to the grade, which may be required from time to time by Psychology Leads or Team Managers.

7. To have a high level of administration and organisational skills in order to manage the multiple aspects of the role.

8. To work effectively as a team member and communicate clearly and respectfully with others.
