Housing Solutions Officer (Gr G)
Description
The Housing Solutions Officer (Gr G) plays a pivotal role in addressing homelessness and housing instability within our community. This position requires a proactive individual who is committed to fostering long-term positive outcomes for individuals and families in need of housing assistance. The officer will serve as a primary point of contact for clients seeking housing support, guiding them through the various processes to secure safe and affordable housing. The Housing Solutions Officer will work closely with local organizations, housing providers, and government agencies to ensure comprehensive service delivery. This role necessitates an understanding of housing policies, resources available for those experiencing homelessness, and the ability to assess clients' needs effectively. In addition to individual client support, this position will also involve community outreach efforts to educate the public about available housing services and programs, fostering collaboration among stakeholders to enhance service delivery. As part of a dynamic and dedicated team, the Housing Solutions Officer will strive to eliminate barriers to housing and contribute to achieving the organization's overall mission to create a supportive, diverse, and inclusive community.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive housing assessments for individuals and families seeking assistance.
Develop customized housing plans tailored to the unique needs and circumstances of each client.
Coordinate services with local housing providers, non-profits, and government agencies to facilitate access to housing.
Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions and services provided according to legal and organizational standards.
Conduct outreach activities to raise awareness about available housing solutions and resources in the community.
Advocate on behalf of clients to resolve issues related to housing access, eviction prevention, and benefits acquisition.
Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices in housing solutions and social services.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in social work, public administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience in housing services.
Minimum of two years of experience in social services, housing assistance, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of local housing policies, resources, and community support services.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse populations.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders including clients, service providers, and government entities.
Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and case management software to maintain client records and report progress.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple cases and priorities effectively.
