Your Role as a Graduate Academic Mentor

As a Graduate Academic Mentor, you will play a key part in supporting students across a range of year groups and subjects. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group academic support, particularly in core subjects such as English, Maths, or Science


  • Assisting in the classroom to help students stay engaged and make progress


  • Supporting students with exam preparation, homework, and revision strategies


  • Working with teaching staff to identify students who would benefit from additional support


  • Helping to monitor student progress and adapt support accordingly


  • Encouraging positive attitudes to learning, confidence, and academic resilience


    Are You a Good Fit?

    This role is ideal for someone who:

    • Holds a recent degree (2:1 or above), ideally in English, Maths, Science, Psychology, Education, or a related field


    • Has strong communication skills and a proactive, supportive approach


    • Is interested in a future career in teaching, mentoring, or education leadership


    • Enjoys working with young people and making a positive impact


    • Has previous experience working with children or teenagers (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, youth work, or volunteering)
