Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator (mid-level) to join our dynamic team in London (hybrid). The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in database management and administration, ensuring high availability and optimal performance of our systems. You’ll work closely with our founding team, engineers, and analysts to design, implement, and maintain database solutions that power our products and insights.

Responsibilities
Administer and maintain database systems including MySQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server.
Design and implement database structures to support application requirements.
Ensure high availability and performance tuning of databases to meet operational needs.
Develop and manage ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
Write and optimise SQL queries, PL/SQL scripts, and shell scripts for data manipulation.
Monitor database performance and implement improvements as necessary.
Perform regular backups, recovery procedures, and data integrity checks.
Collaborate with development teams to support application development and deployment.
Document database designs, processes, and procedures for future reference.
Requirements
Proven experience in database administration with a strong understanding of MySQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server.
Proficiency in performance tuning techniques for high-availability environments.
Familiarity with SSIS for data integration tasks.
Strong skills in database design principles and practices.
Experience with Linux operating systems and Bash (Unix shell) scripting.
Knowledge of shell scripting for automation tasks is advantageous.
Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues effectively.
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams effectively.
