Step Teachers are working with a wonderful special needs school in Salford, and they're on the lookout for a caring, enthusiastic Speech & Language Teaching Assistant to join their team.
The Basics
- Speech & Language Teaching Assistant supporting pupils across the school with speech, language & communication needs.
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:15-3:15pm.
- Start: ASAP.
- Pay: £90-100/day (DOE), paid PAYE (no umbrella).
- Future: Potential permanent role.

- Support pupils across the school to develop speech, language & social interaction.
- Use strategies like PECS, Makaton, social stories and visual supports.
- Provide both 1:1 and small group sessions.
- Encourage communication through play, positive reinforcement & creativity.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCO, speech therapists & families.
- Celebrate every achievement and track progress with pride.

What We're Looking For
- Experience supporting children/young people, ideally with SEN or communication needs.
- Knowledge of PECS, Makaton or similar tools is a big plus.
- DBS (or willing to apply), right to work in the UK & 2 years of references.
- Someone reliable, patient & passionate about helping pupils communicate and thrive.
