The Older Peoples Commissioner is a pivotal role focusing on advocating for the rights and well-being of older adults. Responsibilities
Advocate for the rights and interests of older people at local, regional, and national levels.
Engage with older people to gather insights and feedback on services and policies affecting their lives.
Develop and implement strategies to promote the well-being and inclusion of older individuals in society.
Collaborate with policymakers, service providers, and community organizations to enhance services for older populations.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of existing policies and practices related to older people.
Raise public awareness about the challenges faced by older individuals and promote positive narratives.
Conduct research and analysis to inform advocacy efforts and policy recommendations.
Requirements
Proven experience in advocacy, public policy, or community engagement, preferably focused on older populations.
Strong understanding of the issues and challenges faced by older people in society.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across sectors.
Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
Commitment to social justice and improving the lives of older individuals.
Relevant qualifications in social work, social policy, gerontology, or a related field.
