Summary
The Head of Operations will provide strategic leadership, direction, and hands-on support to both field and depot-based operational teams, ensuring the delivery of agreed business objectives and continuous improvement in efficiency and productivity.
This role will be responsible for developing and executing an operational plan that strengthens TPA UK’s safety performance, enhances employee engagement, improves productivity, and raises service standards—ultimately creating additional capacity for sustainable growth.
As a key member of the TPA Management Team, the Head of Operations will share accountability for the ongoing success of the business, driving operational excellence while fostering a culture of high performance and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver budgeted profit and the 3-Year Plan through strong operational execution
- Partner with Supply Chain & Logistics to deliver demand plans effectively
- Oversee depots to ensure safety, service, productivity, and continuous improvement
- Engage and develop colleagues to build capability and retain talent
- Set clear objectives for all reports, with coaching and support to deliver
- Work with HR to embed performance management and training across the function
- Track and improve performance using clear KPIs and operational measures
- Control costs with Finance, focusing on assets, people, vehicles, and property
- Work with Sales to meet and exceed customer expectations and SLAs
- Build strong relationships with key customers at all levels
- Lead project delivery teams to achieve on-time installs, recoveries, and re-sites
- Promote a culture of Health, Safety, and Quality across all operations
- Ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations
- Manage fleet and assets to optimise availability, cost, and revenue
- Lead operational initiatives that support the Sustainability Transition Plan
- Propose and integrate acquisitions that align with business growth
What We’re Looking For
- Proven leadership skills: engaging, collaborative, and able to inspire teams to deliver strategy, objectives, and KPIs
- Strong contributor to senior/divisional management teams
- Proven extensive experience in senior operational management, ideally in a multi-site, customer focused, regionalised environment
- Track record of improving efficiency, productivity, and customer service
- Experience driving revenue and profit growth with full P&L and asset management accountability
- Excellent relationship-building and influencing skills, internally and externally
- Commercially astute, motivated, and a strong team player
- Highly organised, proactive, and able to work independently
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to interpret data and trends
- Clear and confident communicator, both written and verbal
- Commitment to Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality compliance
- Full UK driving licence
- Knowledge of the Hire and Rental/Construction industry – Desirable
