Falkirk Council is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Compliance Technician (Legionella) to join our new Property Compliance Team and support our Legionella Compliance Officer. This role is essential in helping ensure our non-domestic property portfolio meets all statutory and regulatory compliance requirements related to legionella.

You will support inspections, maintain accurate records, and work closely with contractors and internal teams to uphold high standards in Legionella and water quality management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and carry out audits and re-inspections.
  • Investigate compliance breaches and recommend improvements.
  • Deliver training sessions to internal staff.
  • Assist in updating policies in line with legislation.
  • Administer minor contracts and support larger projects.
  • Liaise with insurers, authorities, and external agencies.
  • Monitor contractor work and ensure compliance.
  • Take immediate action on non-compliant practices.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant safety policies and procedures.

Essential Criteria

  • Excellent numeracy and literacy.
  • A formal qualification in legionella management and/relevant experience
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
  • Experience working with legislation and best practise guidelines in relation to the control of legionella and other waterborne pathogens in workplace water systems.
  • Familiarity with best practise in the design, installation and maintenance of water storage and distribution systems
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Membership of IOSH or other relevant professional body.
  • Experience in project management and working in public sector environments.
  • Gaelic language skills.
