Falkirk Council is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Compliance Technician (Fire Safety) to join our new Property Compliance Team and support our Fire Safety Advisor. This role is essential in helping ensure our non-domestic property portfolio meets all statutory and regulatory compliance requirements related to fire safety.

You will support inspections, maintain accurate records, and work closely with contractors and internal teams to uphold high standards in Fire Safety management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct risk assessments and quality evaluations.
  • Schedule and carry out audits and re-inspections.
  • Investigate compliance breaches and recommend improvements.
  • Deliver training sessions to internal staff.
  • Assist in updating policies in line with legislation.
  • Administer minor contracts and support larger projects.
  • Liaise with insurers, authorities, and external agencies.
  • Monitor contractor work and ensure compliance.
  • Take immediate action on non-compliant practices.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant safety policies and procedures.

Essential Criteria

  • Excellent numeracy and literacy.
  • A formal qualification in Fire Safety and/relevant experience in fire safety
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
  • Experience working with fire safety legislation and national guidelines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Membership of IFE or other relevant professional body.
  • Experience in project management and working in public sector environments.
  • Gaelic language skills.
