Tractor Driver (3-Month Temp Contract)
- Rate: £14.98 - £18.30 per hour (dependent on experience)
- Contract: 3-month temporary contract to cover sickness
- Location: Oxford City Centre
We are recruiting on behalf of a respected client for an experienced Tractor Driver to join their team on a short-term basis. This role involves working safely and independently with tractors and a range of related machinery, supporting general grounds maintenance and assisting team leaders as required.
Responsibilities
- Operate tractors performing tasks such as bio-chopping, flailing, and using specialised PTO implements with minimal supervision.
- Attach, detach, and manage 3-point linkages and PTO-driven tractor attachments; support other tractor operators.
- Conduct routine tractor maintenance, basic repairs, cleanliness checks, and report faults.
- Haul and reverse large tractors and trailers safely on private land and public roads.
- Use a variety of machinery including excavators, dumpers, forklifts, and ride-on mowers.
- Support general grounds upkeep: weed control, hedge cutting, litter removal, cultivations, chipping, mulching, and lawn maintenance.
- Assist Gardening Team leaders and take responsibility for assigned work areas.
- Monitor and report Health and Safety risks related to tractor operations, following risk assessments and communicating concerns.
- Secure tractors and equipment at the end of the day.
- Flexibility to work some weekends and overtime as required.
Essential Criteria
- Extensive experience operating a broad range of tractors and equipment.
- Proven horticultural, agricultural, or relevant land-based background.
- Effective team player with good communication skills.
- Flexible and reliable approach to various tasks.
- Certified: NPTC Tractor Driving, Plant Operator (e.g., excavators, IPAF), Forklift or Telehandler.
- Full, clean driving licence; Trailer Licence (B+BE) or substantial trailer experience.
- CSCS card for construction site work.
Desirable Qualifications
- First Aid at Work
- PA1 / PA6 / PA2 pesticide certification
- Ride-on mower certification
- Mechanical qualifications
- CAT Cable Detection Training
