Select Control Systems Ltd (SCS) specialises in electrical control panel design, build and test. Serving both local and multinational companies in food and beverage, oil and gas, energy, and machinery sectors. Due to increased work we are looking for an experienced Panel Wirer who takes immense pride in their work, works well in a team but most importantly, can get on with It.

Role:
At Select we require an experienced Panel Wirer. The role requires building and wiring control panels from electrical drawings and schematics. This may be construction of new panels, re-wiring and modification of old panels, and some wiring and installation on customer sites. We are looking for someone with 5+ years' experience in a similar role, ideally with an electrical qualification. Good skills using hand tools and crimping equipment. You will be required to show you can read and interpret electrical drawings at interview stage. Experience working with Siemens and Allen Bradley equipment is desirable, ability to freehand loom in complex control panels is a huge plus. Knowledge of various standards such as IEC60204 and ul508a is beneficial.
• Permanent, full-time, day shift, factory based
• Core hours: Monday-Friday (37hr week) – 07:30-16:00 Mon-Thurs. 07:30-12:30 Friday

• Hands-on practical ‘doer’
• Takes pride in work with good attention to detail
• Strong safety awareness and culture
• Person of integrity who always does the right thing un-observed
• Confident and able to speak up when things are not right, or mistakes are made
Main duties & Responsibilities:
• Looming and Crimping
• Laying out and installing electrical components
• Wiring panels from bare backplates through to installing in enclosures and final assembly
• Preparing finished panels for test and customer Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
• Working within allotted timeframes to meet scheduling needs
• Ensuring tools and equipment are properly maintained and functioning
• Correct interpretation of electrical and engineering diagrams
• Layout, marking and population of back plates and control panels
• Wiring of back plates including final assembly interconnections to control panels
• Soldering
• Responsible for marking up diagrams as built and feeding back to engineering/technical
• Working with engineering, solving problems as required
• Punctual, professional and a company ambassador
• Ability to get on with the job, using knowledge, skills, and experience to make informed decisions
• Working to Select Control Systems quality standards ISO9001
• Working safely in a manufacturing environment
Essential skills
• Reading electrical diagrams
• Reading and understanding Part numbers on part lists
• Crimping and terminating electrical connections
• Good verbal communication to convey problems, issues and concerns
• Looming cabling to components
• Control of hand tools to correctly tighten terminations
Desirable skills that may benefit but not required
• Trained in Overhead crane use
• Forklift licence
• 18th Edition
• 2391 Inspection and Testing
• Electrical Testing
• CSCS Card
• Driving Licence
Health and Safety - desirable but not required
• First aid training
• Fire warden
Package
• £29-32k + Depending on experience (£15-16.65 per hour)
• Overtime at 1.5x Hourly - Occasionally required to meet production demands
• 26 days holiday annually
• Sick pay
• Free On-Site Parking
