Summary
Designed to support the development of Speech and Language Therapy services across pathways and clinical areas, this post offers structured nine-month rotations across both adult and children’s services. Ideal for newly qualified graduates or clinicians seeking to broaden their clinical experience, the role provides exposure to a wide range of speech, language, communication, and swallowing needs. As new funding becomes available, additional clinical areas will be added. You’ll work across homes, clinics, care homes, and educational settings in Oxfordshire. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential, with reasonable adjustments considered under the Equality Act 2010.
Main duties of the jobYou’ll manage your own caseload, delivering evidence-based SLT to children and young people (0–19) with speech, language, and communication needs. Working across special schools, mainstream schools, and nurseries, you’ll adapt interventions to suit individual needs—from AAC and sensory strategies to early language and inclusive communication.
You’ll also rotate into adult services, supporting clients with communication and/or dysphagia needs. Duties include assessment, care planning, report writing, MDT collaboration, and SEND contributions.
You’ll supervise assistants and students, support service development, and contribute to training and audit.
Working for our organisationChildren's Integrated Therapy (CIT) is made up of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Therapy Instructors and Assistant Practitioners. The SLT team is made up of Band 5 and 6 Therapists, Technical Assistants, Apprentices, and both Specialist Team Leads and Specialist Clinical Leads (Band 7). We provide Speech and Language Therapy for children and young people aged 0 - 19 years across Oxfordshire in a range of settings.
The Adult Speech & Language Therapy Service provide community support to adults with speech, language and communication needs and adults with eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties. We are locality based teams of qualified SLTs who assess and treat adults with a wide range of communication and swallowing difficulties in a variety of settings across Oxfordshire.
A comprehensive induction programme is offered, with ongoing supervision and appraisal with development reviews from experienced specialist staff, regular in-house training as well as opportunities for involvement in Service Development.

This countywide rotational post offers varied experience across paediatric and adult services. In children’s settings, you’ll support SLCN in homes, clinics, and schools. In adult rotations, you’ll assess and manage communication and swallowing needs in community settings. Each nine-month rotation builds clinical confidence and supports professional growth. You’ll receive supervision, preceptorship, and CPD opportunities, and contribute to governance and service evaluation. Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork skills are essential. Applicants must be HCPC registered with a recognised SLT qualification.

Children’s Integrated Therapy (CIT) SLT Role
The post holder will provide Speech and Language Therapy to children and young people (0–19 years) with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) across homes, clinics, and educational settings. They will manage their own caseload, working autonomously and flexibly to meet individual needs, while collaborating with the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care.
Educational Settings: Special Schools, Mainstream Schools, and Nurseries
• Special Schools: Support pupils with complex communication needs, often alongside autism, learning disabilities, or physical impairments. Use AAC, sensory-based approaches, and work closely with school staff and other professionals to embed communication strategies.
• Mainstream Schools: Focus on early identification and intervention for speech sound disorders, language delays, and social communication difficulties. Collaborate with SENCOs and teaching staff to implement support plans and promote inclusive communication.
• Nurseries: Deliver play-based interventions to support early language development, engage parents/carers, and train staff to create language-rich environments.
The post holder will also contribute to service development, supervise junior staff or students, and maintain accurate documentation in line with professional standards.

Adult Speech and Language Therapy Rotation
As part of the adult rotation, the post holder will deliver Speech and Language Therapy to adults with communication and/or dysphagia needs. This will include working in a variety of settings such as patients’ own homes, clinics, and care homes. The role will involve assessment, intervention, and collaborative working with wider health and social care teams to support safe and effective management of swallowing difficulties and communication impairments. The post holder will contribute to person-centred care planning and ensure therapy is aligned with current evidence and best practice.
Subject to funding, additional roles in new clinical areas may be added to the rotation.
This is a rotational post covering countywide services, and post holders are expected to travel between sites and patients’ homes as needed. Applicants must have a full valid driving license and have access to a vehicle for work. Adjustments can be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010 where required.
Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria- Speech & Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
- HCPC registration (pending)
- Formal post graduate training in dysphagia
- Specialty specific post graduate courses
- Registered & practicing member of the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists (RCSLT)
- Experience of working with children & young people with complex speech, language and communication needs
- Able to act independently and on own initiative, but recognize when to seek support
- Demonstrates knowledge of national policies and procedures relevant to client group
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills in pressurised and stressful environments
- Competent IT skills for use of electronic health records and ability to adapt to new developments
- Demonstrates knowledge of range of SLT assessment tools & therapeutic interventions relevant to the client group
- Experience of working as a band 5 SLT
- Completion of RCSLT NQP Competencies
- Experience of Therapy Outcome Measures TOMs
- Understanding of the statutory / legal requirements for working within the specialty including a working knowledge of the SEND code of practice
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Evidence of self-directed learning / reflective practice
- Ability to work collaboratively with the wider multi- disciplinary team
- Excellent organisational skills including good time management – clinical and non-clinical
- Communicate effectively particularly where barriers to understanding exist
- Demonstrates adequate flexibility to meet the demands of an unpredictable workload
