Are you a dynamic and motivated individual looking to take the next step in your nursing leadership career? Due to internal promotion, we have an exciting opportunity for a new Ward Manager to lead our specialist 9-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit dedicated to patients recovering from limb-loss.

Pine Cottage provides a tailored multidisciplinary approach for our patients to support them in the initial stages of their recovery and rehabilitation adjusting to limb loss to enable a safe discharge. The successful candidate will be leading a well-established team of nurses and care support workers whilst working closely with our Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Discharge Co-ordinator, Housekeepers and our medical colleagues.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, experienced and motivated nurse with a proven track record for organising and providing patient care of the highest standard.

The successful candidate will:
• Have an NMC registration.
• Lead and manage a dedicated team, fostering a culture of compassion, inclusion, safety, and excellence.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care to patients undergoing complex rehabilitation.
• Need to be motivated in implementing service changes and influencing others.
• Support and develop staff while managing day-to-day operations and ward-level concerns.
• Drive innovation and continuous service improvement across the unit.
• Have excellent inter-personal skills to lead, work alongside and motivate the multidisciplinary team.
• Be expected to manage a team of staff members, deal with complaints at ward level and manage day to day operational issues.

• To be responsible for the day-to-day operational line management of the team, leading and ensuring a 24-hour, 7-day service is provided.
• To facilitate the admission and discharge of patients to and from the specialist unit.
• To work with all health care professionals, and statutory/non statutory agencies to provide a seamless, integrated service to patients
• To provide senior leadership with the expectation to cover service gaps as required.
• To ensure that patients, families and carers are involved in the planning and prioritisation of their rehabilitation care plans and discharge goal setting.
• To provide supervision, advice and support to other members of nursing staff and rehabilitation assistants within the team regarding management and care of people with complex nursing needs.
• To lead on recruitment including inductions for new staff, work experience placements and other learners.
• To monitor and manage staff absence, off duty including annual leave and study leave in line with NCH&Cs policies, procedures and guidelines. Escalate information if any significant trends / issues are identified.
• Establish clear, positive and credible leadership within the clinical team, promoting and supporting the maintenance of a cohesive multidisciplinary team.
• To manage the ward’s budget.
