About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Inclusion Support Worker to join a fantastic team in Wakefield. This is a full-time, long-term position starting as soon as possible, with the potential for a permanent contract. You will be working directly with students who require additional support to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life. Your role will be pivotal in creating a supportive and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and can succeed. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to implement tailored support plans, ensuring that students' individual needs are met. Essential Requirements:

  • A good understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and inclusion principles.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness to apply for one)

Skills:

  • Empathy and Patience: The ability to understand and respond to the emotional needs of students with diverse requirements.
  • Strong Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Behaviour Management: Proven strategies for managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner.
  • Teamwork: The ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and other support staff.
  • Adaptability: The flexibility to adjust to different situations and student needs.
  • Confidentiality: A strong understanding and respect for maintaining student and school confidentiality.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with a range of needs.
  • Assisting the class teacher with the planning and delivery of lessons.
  • Implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and other support strategies.
  • Monitoring and recording student progress and providing feedback to staff.
  • Encouraging and promoting positive behaviour and social interactions.
  • Helping to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Liaising with parents and carers under the direction of the class teacher.
  • Supporting students with their emotional and social development.
  • Assisting with the preparation of learning resources and classroom displays.
  • Supervising students during break times and school trips as required.
