Summary
A leading design, engineering, and project management consultancy, employing over 50,000 professionals globally, is seeking a Senior / Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join its Building Design Practice. Role OverviewThe position involves working within a national practice of Building Design professionals, delivering engineering design solutions across a variety of sectors. While multi-sector experience is advantageous, particular expertise in Commercial, Defence, Energy, Education, and Healthcare projects would be beneficial.

- Manchester Digital Campus for the Government Property Agency
- Seashell SEND College in Cheadle
- Submarine manufacturing facilities for BAE Systems
- University of Sheffield's MEP designer framework
This is a client-facing role, requiring involvement in both the design and management of projects. It presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer to further their career within a highly respected consultancy. The Building Services Engineering team was recently recognised with the "Building Performance Consultancy (over 300 employees)" award at the CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2025.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and specify Electrical Building Services systems from concept to detailed design, including power, earthing, lighting, safety, telecoms, security, access control, lifts, and lightning protection.
- Produce detailed calculations using industry-standard software such as Excel, Amtech, and Dialux/Relux.
- Prepare technical specifications, design reports, and presentations.
- Collaborate with the BIM team to develop models and drawings, with working knowledge of Revit.
- Represent the consultancy at client and stakeholder meetings.
- Conduct condition surveys, inspections, and oversee installation and commissioning.
- Manage personal workload and ensure projects are delivered to high standards within agreed deadlines and budgets.
- Support the technical development of junior team members.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrable experience in Building Services Engineering with a passion for design excellence.
- A natural curiosity and interest in innovative working methods.
- Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Working towards Chartered Membership of IET, CIBSE, or an equivalent professional body.
- Proficient in software such as Amtech/Prodesign, Dialux/Relux, NBS, and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of high-voltage design tools is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of UK technical standards and codes of practice.
- Familiarity with energy reduction strategies and approaches to decarbonisation.
- Experience in energy and carbon data capture and analytics.
- Competence in designing for measurement and verification, including commissioning and post-installation performance evaluation.
