Summary

Pharmacy Technician General Practice (ARRS Role) Job Summary The Pharmacy Technician will work as part of the general practice/PCN team to support the safe, effective, and efficient use of medicines. They will work under the supervision of GPs, contributing to repeat prescription processes, medication reviews, audits, and improving patient care by ensuring medicines are used appropriately. Key Responsibilities Support GPs, and other healthcare staff with medicines optimisation. Manage repeat prescription requests, ensuring timely processing and clinical checks. Conduct medicines reconciliation after hospital discharge or transfer of care. Support patients with medication queries, providing information and promoting safe use. Assist in audits, quality improvement, and prescribing safety initiatives. Support long-term condition management by optimising medication regimes under supervision. Liaise with community pharmacies, hospitals, and care homes to ensure continuity of care. Contribute to the practices prescribing budget by reducing waste and promoting cost-effective choices. Maintain accurate medication records in line with NHS and local policy. Ensure compliance with legislation, local policy, and national standards for medicines management. Qualifications & Requirements Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Experience working in community, hospital, or primary care pharmacy. Knowledge of medicines optimisation and repeat prescribing processes. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support patients and liaise with healthcare colleagues. Good IT skills and familiarity with GP clinical systems (e.g. SystmOne) desirable. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Workplace Details Based at Moat House Surgery, Beech Close, Warboys, PE28 2RQ or a practice across the St Ives Primary Care Network. May involve home visits or care home support. Works closely with GPs, nurses, social prescribers, and wider ARRS team members.
