Summary
Experienced CNC Operator – Fire Doors & Joinery
£35,000 - £38,300 + bonus
Location: Wakefield, Yorkshire
Hours: Full-time, 40–42 hours per week (Monday to Friday). Weekend overtime available.
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled CNC Operator & Programmer to join a busy fire door and joinery manufacturer in Wakefield. This is a hands-on role where you’ll take ownership of programming, operating, and maintaining CNC machinery – specifically two Holzher machines and one Weeke machine – to deliver bespoke fire door sets to the highest standards.
You’ll also play a key role in training and mentoring junior team members, while ensuring production runs smoothly, efficiently, and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Programming & Operation – Create, optimise, and run CNC programs for Holzher and Weeke machines, producing precise, high-quality components.
- Production Planning – Manage machine schedules to maximise efficiency and meet deadlines.
- Maintenance – Oversee servicing and repairs to minimise downtime and keep machines in top condition.
- Training & Supervision – Support and guide two junior staff members in their CNC training and development.
- Team Leadership – Ensure best practices and safety protocols are followed across the team.
Person Specification
- Proven experience as a CNC Operator & Programmer, ideally in the fire door or wider door/joinery manufacturing sector.
- Skilled in CNC programming, setup, and operation (Holzher and Weeke experience essential).
- Strong organisational skills for production planning and scheduling.
- Confident in troubleshooting and maintaining CNC machinery.
- Experience supervising or training junior staff.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Proactive, problem-solving approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
