Summary

Wood Machinist – Fire Doors

Wakefield, West Yorkshire
£16–£17.50 per hour + bonus | Full-time, Permanent

We’re looking for an experienced wood machinist to join a busy fire door manufacturing team in Wakefield. This is a hands-on role working with both traditional woodworking machinery and modern CNC equipment.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate spindle moulders, 4-cutter, planer–thicknesser, dimension saws, and beam saws.
- Produce high-quality, bespoke fire door sets.
- Maintain machinery and a safe, organised workshop.
- Occasional forklift driving (training can be provided).

What We’re Looking For

- Proven experience as a wood machinist (fire door/joinery background desirable).
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- NVQ 2–3 in Joinery or Health & Safety certification (advantageous).

Benefits

- £16–£17.50 per hour (DOE) + performance bonus.
- Monday to Friday, 42 hours (early Friday finish, no bank holidays).
