Summary

Job Title: General Practice Nurse Respiratory Specialism Location: Shah Zaman Surgery, North Birmingham PCN Contract: 1 day per week, funded under NHS DES Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS) About the Role: Shah Zaman Surgery is seeking an experienced General Practice Nurse with specialist knowledge, skills, or qualifications in respiratory care. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on patient care, focusing on chronic respiratory conditions such as asthma, COPD, and other long-term respiratory illnesses. The role is contracted for one day a week and is funded through the NHS DES Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS) under North Birmingham PCN. Key Responsibilities: Conduct and lead respiratory reviews for patients with chronic conditions. Assess, monitor, and manage patients with respiratory illnesses, providing evidence-based care. Provide education, guidance, and self-management support to patients and their families. Collaborate with GPs, practice nurses, and other members of the primary care team to deliver integrated care. Contribute specialist knowledge to improve patient outcomes and support clinical decision-making. Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in line with practice policies and professional standards. Person Specification / Skills & Qualifications: Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration. Demonstrable experience in respiratory care or management of long-term conditions. Additional respiratory qualifications (e.g., asthma/COPD certification) are highly desirable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with patients and colleagues. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to high-quality patient care and continuous professional development.
