Summary

About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Repairs Surveyor to join our responsive repairs and maintenance team. This role is ideal for a knowledgeable and proactive individual with a strong background in social housing, disrepair cases, and insurance-related repair works.

You will be responsible for surveying, diagnosing, specifying, and managing a range of building repair works - ensuring compliance, quality, and value for money across all activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out property inspections and surveys to diagnose repairs and building defects.

  • Manage disrepair claims in line with legislation (e.g. Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act, Housing Disrepair Protocol).

  • Oversee insurance-related works, liaising with loss adjusters and contractors as required.

  • Prepare detailed specifications and schedules of work.

  • Monitor contractors to ensure works are completed on time, to standard, and within budget.

  • Provide expert technical advice to tenants, colleagues, and legal teams.

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, works, and communications.

Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Repairs or Building Surveyor within the social housing sector
  • Strong knowledge of disrepair legislation, pre-action protocols, and resolution processes
  • Experience managing insurance repair works, including liaison with insurers and contractors
  • Ability to diagnose a wide range of building defects (internal and external)
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. HNC/HND in Building Studies, RICS/CIOB membership - desirable)
  • Full UK driving licence
