Role Overview

The Senior Delivery Manager will report directly to the Lead Delivery Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate flexibly across both Delivery Manager and Scrum Master responsibilities, switching between roles as needed to support team and project delivery.
  • Own the end-to-end delivery of digital products and services, including managing delivery schedules, timelines, risks, and issues.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Engineering, and Test teams to ensure alignment and shared understanding of goals.
  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, retrospectives, daily stand-ups, and backlog refinement.
  • Coach teams on agile principles and foster continuous improvement in delivery practices.
  • Lead and motivate multi-disciplinary teams, including blended teams of permanent staff and third-party suppliers, to deliver high-impact digital services.
  • Act as the main point of contact for business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Champion agile delivery across MaPS and actively contribute to the Delivery Management Community of Practice.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards including GOV.UK service standards and accessibility.
  • Translate business needs into actionable plans, supporting resource planning and operational delivery.

You will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience.

To excel in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Proven ability to operate effectively as both a Delivery Manager and Scrum Master, with the flexibility to switch between roles based on team and project needs
  • Expertise in Agile and Lean practices, with a track record of coaching teams and innovating delivery approaches.
  • Strong communication skills, able to engage senior stakeholders and bridge technical and non-technical discussions.
  • Experience of delivering products with blended teams of permanent and 3rd party suppliers.
  • A deep understanding of the product lifecycle and ability to plan across complex environments.
  • Proven ability to maintain delivery momentum and unblock issues across teams.
  • Experience leading successful delivery teams and fostering collaborative, transparent environments.
  • Demonstrable experience in Agile delivery across the product lifecycle.
  • Ability to inspire teams, facilitate feedback loops, and adapt team dynamics to suit delivery needs.

Flexible Working
At MaPS, we take pride in our flexible approach to work. As standard, we work on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. Hybrid working is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and our headquarters in Bedford will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business needs, but personal and other relevant circumstances will also be considered. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
