Summary
About the role
The Faculty of Science and Engineering wish to appoint a Senior Technician (Precision Manufacturing) to provide teaching and research support for the School of Engineering Computing and Mathematics.
You will work as part of a team under the direction of the School Technical Manager and deliver support in all aspects of Precision Manufacturing and Fabrication and manage the Precision Manufactruing Workshop. When you join us, you’ll be supporting a broad range of activities including undergraduate projects, teaching, research and outreach activities. A key element of the role will be the day-to-day operation of the Precision Manufacturing workshop and contributing to the Digital Fabrication workshop.
What we’re looking for:
We are looking for a candidate with a degree or HND in a relevant subject with a significant period of relevant work experience. You will have the demonstrable ability to work independently with minimal supervision, including operating complex machinery such as manual lathes & mills, as well as CNC mills (ferrous and non-ferrous materials), lathes and waterjet cutters.
This role includes a significant element of student facing work and so the ideal candidate will enjoy working in a dynamic student focused environment.
