We are looking for an experienced, motivated heritage education professional to join our team, as we deliver a dynamic programme of activities at Britain’s oldest working theatre.
St George’s Guildhall and Creative Hub is undergoing a multi-million-pound transformation, and you will impact and deliver the highly successful cultural learning and engagement programme, working with schools and the local community.
You will work with the Cultural Officer to further develop and deliver a programme of cultural, heritage and creative community events based on the heritage of St George’s Guildhall and surrounding buildings. You will oversee the delivery of the learning programme from early years to KS4 based on the history and heritage of St George’s Guildhall, as well as strengthening partnerships with education providers and nationally recognised organisation for the benefit of children and young people across the borough.

Educated to a minimum A’ level standard (or equivalent), you will have wide experience of working on education programmes in one or more of the following: schools, heritage, museums, libraries, theatres, art organisations or an associated service as well as of planning, piloting, and evaluating engaging and inclusive school sessions and informal learning and community events. With excellent communication skills you will be able to work effectively to deadlines and using historical research to develop learning activities.

St George’s Guildhall is the oldest working theatre in the UK and the only one left that can credibly claim to have hosted Shakespeare. The restoration of St George’s Guildhall is an internationally significant project which since October 2023 has built an education programme that has engaged with over 10,000 children and young people. The media reach of the project since October 2023 has been over 921 million people world-wide. It is an exciting time for the project and our education programme is a key part of this.
