Summary

Key work of the unit includes:

Developing and publishing the wide range of Immigration System Statistics produced quarterly, and providing advice to ministers, policy and comms colleagues on a consistently high-profile area.
Liaison with Office of National Statistics and other departments on matters related to migration patterns and trends.
Managing the production and development of statistics and the ongoing statistical advice in relation to irregular arrivals in the UK and the enforcement activity in the Immigration system.
Producing a quarterly report on Irregular Migration trends in Europe and at the UK border, maintaining strong links with operational experts in Home Office agencies and other relevant departments as well as international data contacts.
Providing research and statistical support for the new Border Security Command working across boundaries and providing advice on measurement and evaluation at a senior level.
Overseeing a large social research programme on integration, resettlement and irregular migration, including the innovative Refugee Integration Outcomes (RIO) programme (working with HMRC and ONS), and a complex resettlement evaluation working with operational teams and local authorities.
Developing new systems for published statistics including improved dissemination methods.
Ensuring the UK can lead discussion of migration statistics and are represented in relevant international fora
