Summary
You will coordinate support for personnel attending trials, sentencings and hearings including the Judiciary, Board members, defence counsel, prosecuting officers, defendants and their assisting officers and escorts.
You will oversee trial progression and management of cases as allocated by the Court Officer.
You will manage, monitor, and operate Case Center to ensure cases are prepared and updated in accordance with court proceedings.
You will operate the Digital Audio Recording System (DARS) and the Evidential Presentation System (EPS) whilst the court is in session.
You will monitor and take forward any Section 85 applications.
You will allocate Board members to the relevant court proceedings and distribute administrative instructions for the relevant 2-week assize periods.
You will brief Board members on their roles and responsibilities, and make all administrative arrangements for them, including travel and accommodation.
You will deconflict Board members for cases listed after you have received their details.
You will manage the access of the Board laptops in conjunction with court proceeding and ensure all board members personal devices are locked in a secure cabinet as per Judicial direction when in deliberation.
You will ensure timely authorisation of all Board member claims on the Joint Personnel and Administration (JPA) IT system.
You will supervise the briefing and tasking of Service Personnel administration party members by your AO Court Assistant.
You will liaise with the Court Martial Report Service (CMRS) on the requirement for the provision of Pre-Sentence Reports prepared by the Probation Service.
You will complete and distribute of post-trial paperwork.
You will arrange and complete, during working hours, custody, production orders and arrest and search warrants on a rotational basis.
You will line manage 1 x AO Court Assistant and provide a supervisory function for all AOs in the team.
You will set up and operate all virtual attendance platforms as required.
You will support the Court Officer in organising and administering courts-martial in ad hoc locations (including overseas up to 6 weeks a year) as identified.
You will provide out-of-hours coverage, on rotation, (weekends and bank holidays including Easter and Christmas periods) for Custody Hearings etc – for which the On-Call Allowance and overtime (when applicable) is payable.
Manage and update all court equipment as per the agreed schedule.
You will manage the Court Group Mailbox.
You will deputise for the Court Officer (by agreement) on rotation and attend any meetings as and when required.
You will fulfil the duties of the Court Assistant in their absence.
As part of your learning you will complete mandatory and further development training.
