Summary
To support the inpatient and outpatient service in Paediatrics and Neonates at Warwick Hospital Whilst on duty, the post holder has clinical and professional responsibility for their patients. It is also the duty of the post holder to: Keep patients (and/or their carers as appropriate) informed about their condition.Involve patients and/or their carers if appropriate in decision making about their treatment. Maintain professional standards and obligations as set out by the General Medical Council and comply in particular with the GMCs guidance on Good Medical Practice. The post holder will be responsible for carrying out any work related to and reasonably incidental to the duties set out in their Job Plan such as: The keeping of records and the provision of reports The proper delegation of tasks Maintaining skills and knowledge To take responsibility for continuing professional education in accordance with guidelines set out by the appropriate college/faculty/professional body. To initiate and participate in research and audit programmes in accordance with Trust policies and procedures. To work in collaboration with colleagues in developing skills to provide new ways of working across different professions, organisations i.e. community/primary care. Work in conjunction with Consultant colleagues, to ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met. To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care. To be able to work flexibly. To take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training. To contribute to the management of the clinical service and service development. To contribute to the research and development of the department.To provide cover for colleagues as appropriate and in accordance with local Trust arrangements and Trust Policy. To observe the Trusts agreed policies and procedures. To take responsibility for your own health and safety complying with any safe working arrangements, policies and procedures which are in place. To accept a duty to other staff and patients to ensure that any hazards are reported and managed appropriately. To ensure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of patients to be able to contact you when necessary.
