Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

Good attendance is essential to academic success, learner wellbeing and successful progression to the next steps in education. When attendance is high, we know that our learners have improved life chances and make more progress academically and socially. The Attendance Officer supports a culture of high expectations by addressing poor attendance and ensuring that learners attend academy. The Attendance Officer will work with learners, staff and parents/carers to manage attendance. A key aspect of this role is visiting learners and their parents/carers in their homes; where necessary, this may involve collecting learners and bringing them in to their academy.

The post holder will require a full clean driving license and access to their own vehicle, with business insurance.

The post holder will also work with key staff members to develop appropriate induction and support for learners who are reluctant to attend their academy and/or need support to engage with learning.


Essential criteria:

GCSE English and Maths at Grade C+/4+ or equivalent

Ability to monitor, manage attendance data.

Experience of using Microsoft Office

Willingness to develop new skills by participating in CPD

Clean, full UK driving license. Access to own vehicle (with valid business insurance). Willingness to undertake home visits, both as a lone worker and paired with another member of staff.

Ability to maintain a professional manner in challenging situations

Commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people

Ability to set targets and monitor progress

Ability to manage, analyse and interpret data and present reports

Ability work with adults who may be reluctant to receive help and support

Demonstrable awareness of legislation relating to school attendance

Ability to prepare and write reports and produce factual and statistical information as required

Experience of working with young people of Primary and/or Secondary School age
