Summary
To work as an autonomous practitioner to support the Fast Diagnostic Standard and effectively co-ordinate and deliver an expert nursing service in Lung cancer and Mesothelioma. To manage a caseload of patients ensuring a high standard of evidence-based nursing, oncological management and discharge. To ensure that patients and their families are fully informed and supported by providing clinical and social support. To lead the development of evidence based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and guidelines. To establish clear lines of communication within the specialty team to ensure cohesive multidisciplinary management of patients. To play a lead role in the operational development of both in and outpatient services for lung cancer and mesothelioma patients; seek and gain opportunities to initiate and implement Quality improvement projects with the aim of improve services and patient care. To provide expert advice and leadership to all members of the MDT on the provision of care for this patient group. To ensure accurate documentation on patient record and support data collection for National Lung Cancer Audit and Cancer Patient Experience Survey. To ensure cancer recovery package is delivered throughout the lung cancer and mesothelioma pathway. To work closely with local lung CNS team as well as national Mesothelioma UK team and adhere job requirement. To meet local and national standards as a registered nurse and banding requirement To develop own job plan as a part of the Lung CNS team and work as an active team member.
