Summary


An opportunity has become available for a band 7 Bladder Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) post. The successful candidate will be expected to offer support and care to patients diagnosed with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. They will be expected to work within the Bladder Cancer Team including attending multidisciplinary team meetings, following a patient’s journey using an electronic care pathway, and running independent nurse led clinics. As the patient’s keyworker they will also be expected to act as a conduit between patients, carers, colleagues, and primary care.

We are seeking a motivated, proactive nurse with vision and maturity, and knowledge of urology nursing. The successful applicant will be required to work in close collaboration with the urology teams as well as other health care professionals within the wider acute and primary care settings.

To apply, experience and knowledge of urology nursing is essential. Experience in bladder cancer care is desirable You should also be an excellent communicator and be able to demonstrate the ability to inspire and manage change. You should be willing to learn and be an active member of the nursing team.

We are a supportive team of nurses dedicated to carrying out high standards of care and developing the skills and knowledge of all its team members.

This post is full time (37.5 hours per week), on a 12 month fixed-term contract and will be based across sites (Royal Free Hospital & Barnet Hospital).







The post will incorporate the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role dimensions of expert clinical practice, education, leadership, management and research.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be required:

• To liaise with all key members of the multidisciplinary team to advise and support colleagues in the delivery of specialised patient care across professional boundaries.
• To undertake nurse led clinics and to be responsible for excellent standards of nursing care to patients through the planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating nurse-led clinics.
• To work autonomously to deliver specialist clinical care appropriate to the needs of the patient group and based on principles that are research based and which enhance the quality of patient care.
• To contribute to the facilitation of the planning, delivery and evaluation of care pathways for a designated group of patients.
• To contribute to training and education within specialist area.
• To promote an innovative and progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through reviewing the evidence base and embedding this in practice through engagement in research activities.
• To act as a visible role model and expert practitioner.

The successful applicant will at times be expected to work across sites, primarily at the Royal Free (Hampstead) and Barnet Hospital.
