Are you a graduate ready to gain hands-on classroom experience before pursuing a career in teaching?

A welcoming, inclusive primary school in Birmingham is seeking a Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025.

This full-time, term-time only role is ideal for aspiring primary teachers planning to apply for teacher training in 2026 or beyond. As a Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant, you’ll support pupils across Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2), working alongside experienced educators to help children thrive academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

As a Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support class teachers in delivering engaging, interactive lessons across the curriculum
• Provide 1:1 and small group support in core subjects, including Maths, English, and Phonics
• Assist with behaviour management and create a positive, inclusive learning environment
• Work with pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or those requiring additional academic or emotional support
• Encourage pupil independence, confidence, and a love of learning
• Take part in school trips, extracurricular clubs, and wider school activities

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking enthusiastic graduates who have:

• A minimum 2:2 degree in any subject (Education, Psychology, English, or related fields are a bonus)
• A genuine passion for helping children succeed
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A proactive, caring, and enthusiastic approach to supporting learning
(Highly desirable) Previous experience working with children—tutoring, mentoring, volunteering, youth work, or summer camps
• A clear ambition to progress into primary teaching or a related education career
