Relief Student Support Assistant

Hours are offered on an as and when required basis

£16.58 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)

UHI Orkney wishes to appoint a suitably experienced person for the above post. The post involves giving educational support to students with additional support needs, or who require additional support in undertaking courses delivered at UHI Orkney. Developing positive relationships with students and staff are key.

The role includes classroom support, liaising with class tutors, conceptualising, clarifying and explaining instructions to students and motivating and encouraging students as required.

You should have a good general standard of school education, with a minimum of standard grades at general level, have standard ability to use computerised systems relevant to role and basic Microsoft Office tasks, and have considerable experience of working with people with support needs.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirement of the Service.

This post is subject to Level 2 Disclosure Check with PVG for working in a regulated role with children and protected adults.
