Summary


Are you a Children’s, Learning Disabilities, or SCPHN nurse looking for a rewarding and family friendly community role?

We’re seeking aSpecialist School Nurseto join our supportive Children’s Community Nursing team in East Berkshire in a part-time, term time only role.

You’ll work closely with children, young people, families, and school staff to deliver safe, high-quality care. Primarily based in Bracknell, at one of the three special schools we work with in East Berkshire, you’ll support children and young people who have complex health needs and learning disabilities.

Managing your own caseload, day to day you will:
• Carry out health assessments for pupils
• Develop and maintain individual care plans
• Provide training and mentorship on care planning, e.g.: for epilepsy and enteral feeding
• Liaise with school staff, communities and external agencies

You’ll join a welcoming and skilled team of specialist school nurses and have regular visits and supervision from your team lead. You’ll participate in active peer support networks and our quarterly development days. We’ll provide a thorough induction and offering ongoing professional development.

We can offer some choice and flexibility regarding when the 22.5 hours are worked within our core Monday to Friday 8am–4pm times.

Your key responsibilities will include:
• Leading the assessment, planning, delivery, and review of evidence-based nursing care for pupils with complex needs.
• Carrying out health assessments for new pupils and creating or updating individual care plans where a nursing need is identified.
• Delivering training and competency-based education for school staff on areas such as enteral feeding, epilepsy management, and emergency care.
• Supporting safeguarding processes, contributing to reports, attending multi-agency meetings, and escalating concerns appropriately.
• Managing your own caseload within the school, working independently while having regular input and supervision from your team lead.
• Liaising with parents, teachers, and external professionals to ensure a joined-up approach to each child’s care.
• Providing clinical input where necessary, including support in urgent or significant health needs.
• Supporting wider East Berkshire schools when cover is needed, working flexibly with colleagues across the community nursing service.

The  must haves for this role: 
• NMC-registered Children’s Nurse, Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) or Learning Disabilities Nurse
• Significant experience working with children with complex needs
• Ability and willingness to travel to the schools we work with within Berkshire as needed
