Summary
We are currently in search of a Communications and Engagement Manager to lead this exciting and pivotal function with Gedling Borough Council.
Your role will be to lead the Council’s Communications and Engagement team, ensuring alignment of all activity to support the delivery of the Council’s priorities, maintaining and further building the Council’s reputation, public and employee trust.
You will work with services, partners and residents in delivery of Council aims and objectives, leading on the development and management of community-based engagement arrangements.
You will also deliver an effective internal and external communications service including media relations, marketing, internal communications, publications, events, community and employee engagement and social media management, ensuring genuine opportunities for two-way communication and maintaining compliance with the law.
You must have extensive experience and a successful track record of working at a senior level in either a communications, community engagement or marketing role and will possess a degree in PR, communications, journalism, marketing, media or similar discipline. Local government experience or working in a multi agency environment is also essential. In addition to the above, you will have managerial experience and can demonstrate successfully leading and developing a team.
Please note, this is a politically restricted role- in essence the postholder must remain politically neutral in their views and outlook.
In return for your efforts and commitment in the role we can offer you excellent working conditions, including a generous holiday entitlement, a comprehensive pension scheme and access to an Employee Assistance Programme, providing advice on a range of issues including financial and legal matters, and offering discounts on purchases from numerous retail outlets. We also offer employees significantly discounted gym membership at Gedling’s five Leisure Centres. The Council offices are situated in an award-winning park within easy reach of Nottingham City Centre and rural Nottinghamshire and include free on-site car parking.
