Rents Officer

Rents Officer

SALARY - £30,024 - £32,061 (Pro rata)

Hours 18.5 per week

Work Location: Buxton/ Leek/ Hybrid Working


The role of Rents Officer forms part of a wider Rents Team which delivers an effective rent collection and recovery service across the High Peak in accordance with legislation, the Council's policies and procedures, and performance targets. The role involves managing the rent collection of current and former tenancies, within a geographical patch of properties,

The successful candidate will have a housing background and previous rent recovery experience ideally within a local authority setting. They will be able to prioritise own workload, identify and escalate cases for action, and proactively negotiate repayment plans with tenants in arrears. They will handle rent account queries, carry out office interviews and home visits to tenanted properties to chase payment and prevent arrears, serve Notice Seeking Possessions, represent the Alliance at court hearings, and carry out evictions. They will ensure customers receive appropriate advice and guidance regarding benefits and welfare entitlements to maximise their potential income, making appropriate referrals where identified.
