Hours/Contract: 37 hours per week, fixed term contract / secondment for 12 months (2 vacancies)

The role

This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Digital Department as a Radio Installation Technician.

As a Radio Installation Technician, you will assist with the roll out of the replacement vehicle radio sets. You will be required to carry out the full installation of the equipment to all in scope fleet vehicles.

What you’ll do 

- Install radio equipment in vehicles according to the Fleet Management guide.

- Maintain safety awareness for hybrid and electric vehicles, following all safety protocols.

- Complete mandatory training as assigned on the force learning platform.

- Adhere to Health & Safety regulations, identify equipment defects, and ensure a safe working environment.

- Document work accurately in Tranman and Airwave Asset Database.

- Monitor vibration tooling and noise emissions daily, ensuring compliance with agreed levels.

What you’ll bring 

- Basic knowledge of motor vehicles, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic components, ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance, and a good level of computer literacy.

- Ability to work to deadlines and under own initiative, with good attention to detail, following directions precisely, maintaining high standards, and accurately interpreting and transcribing data for the fleet management system.

- Perform routine installation tasks in a fast-paced environment, using critical thinking to analyse situations, make informed decisions on equipment installation and positioning, and read safety rules, operating instructions, and machine manuals.

- Verbal communication skills for explaining vehicle work in accessible terms, discussing cases with colleagues and management, listening and comprehending instructions (both written and verbal), and effectively communicating with work colleagues.

- Ability to work with minimal supervision to achieve set targets.

- Full UK drivers Licence.

Terms of appointment 

This is a fixed term role subject to a six-month probationary period.
