Summary
This post is a key role part of a new 24/7 Mental Health First Response service and be the first point of contact for people who may require urgent mental health support in the GMMH 24/7 Trust helpline/111.
The Mental Health Practitioners will be a registered mental health professional who will provide effective mental health support to people calling the service who may be experiencing a mental health crisis. This may include triage and risk assessments, and brief psychosocial interventions. Working via telephone and video calls, Mental Health Practitioners will provide effective emotional support for people through the use of compassionate conversations and, when appropriate, encourage and guide effective self - management of emotional distress.
Mental Health Practitioners will be able to recognise when a person requires more support than is possible to be delivered over the phone, such as a crisis mental health assessment or ongoing support and be confident to make the necessary arrangements to facilitate this with an appropriate registrant, clinician, service or organisation.
The post involves working with people of all age (Children and Young People, Adults or Older People) experiencing a mental health crisis via telephone triage. Working as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team, MH First Responders will provide initial assessment and triage via the phone, as well as information, support, signposting, and advice.
