Applications are invited for a part time (2PA) Locum Consultant fixed for two years in the Department of Renal Medicine and Transplantation at Barts Health NHS Trust to commence idally from 1stSeptember 2025. The department is one of the largest and busiest in the UK, and provides comprehensive whole-pathway renal & transplant care from the hub in Whitechapel to six networked kidney centres. There is a strong academic tradition within the Centre for Translational Medicine & Therapeutics at the William Harvey Research Institute (Queen Mary, University of London), along with the recently established the Diabetic Kidney Centre in East London. There is also a commitment to excellence in undergraduate and post-graduate teaching. The post includes translational research under supervision of Professor Yaqoob.

To contribute to the development of a comprehensive amyloidosis service at Barts Health NHS Trust with a focus on kidneys and heart. Main work will establishing a cardiac and renal amyloidsis clinics locally at Barts health NHS trust and Homertan hospital. Successful candidate will foster a very close working relationship with national amyloidosis centre.
To provide evidence-based care for all inpatients and outpatients.
To have regard at all times to the clinical and quality standards set out in relevant NHS guidance and the Care Quality Commission, including the 18 weeks waiting time standard.
To participate fully in the management of the Department and to liaise closely with the Lead Clinician, Service Manager, General Manager and Clinical Director.
The post holder may be required to carry out other duties in emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.

The post holder is expected to take responsibility for their own Continuing Professional Development and take part in Continuing Medical Education activities, in line with the requirements of the Royal College of Physician guidelines to maintain standards of performance and in consultation with the Lead Clinician.
The post-holder will be expected to be committed to the concept of lifelong learning and produce and maintain, as part of the appraisal process, a Personal Development Plan in agreement with their Lead Clinician / Clinical Director.
Study leave is available as provided for under the Terms and Conditions of Service for Hospital Medical and Dental staff, subject to the approval of the Clinical Director / General Manager.
