We have a vacancy for a dedicated individual to join our Housing team.

This is a varied role which will be based initially in our Homelessness and Advice Section. The postholder will have opportunities to transfer between sections should a vacancy arise.

The post covers the provision of housing advice and the prevention of homelessness wherever this is practicably possible. In addition, the role provides services to those presenting as homeless so as to ensure the Council’s statutory obligations are fulfilled.

To be successful, you will have the ability to provide a high level of customer care and be a good, confident communicator who is able to cope with a wide variety of situations. In addition, the post requires a flexible attitude and the ability to work under pressure and adapt to changes in legislation.

You will require experience in giving and receiving information both verbally and in writing and should have experience with the public in demanding situations. In addition, you should have excellent analytical, written and IT skills.

For appointment at Grade F:

You should have a good general standard of education including literacy and numeracy and you must hold or complete the Professional Development Award in Housing Law for Advisors at Level 7 at the next intake following appointment.

For appointment at or progression to Grade G:

You must hold or successfully complete the Chartered Institute of Housing’s Level 4 certificate in Housing Practice.

You should hold a full current driving licence (please note the Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments so if you are unable to drive due to a disability your application will still be considered).

This post requires Level 2 Disclosure with PVG for working in a regulated role with protected adults.
