Summary

The Staffordshire Centre for Data Analytics (SCDA) is a partnership consisting of Staffordshire County Council, Staffordshire Police and Keele University.

Our vision is to lead the way in addressing public sector challenges through innovative research, data analytics and collaborative working.

The Research and Analysis Officer will gather information from across the Partnership in relation to shared challenges within Staffordshire and use the findings to translate insight into deliverable research Projects for the Centre.

The role will follow a hybrid working arrangement from Monday-Friday for a fixed term of 2 years.

Main Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • To complete desktop and wider research on identified shared challenges, establishing the requirements of stakeholders and ensuring that they are met.
  • To co-ordinate, interpret and analyse a range of different types of data, including primary research, qualitative and quantitative data.
  • To produce briefings and presentations for stakeholders, providing clear and concise evidence-based understanding of the project, and making recommendations for next steps.
  • To build positive and effective working relationships with a range of people across Staffordshire who play an active role in the success of the Centre.
  • To understand and apply information governance principles in the design and delivery of projects.
  • To maintain awareness of innovation within analysis to ensure use of the latest tools and techniques, best practice and information relevant to the role.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for you to:

  • Want to make a real difference to public services
  • Have an understanding of local government, the broader public sector and partnership working
  • Be educated to A-Level standard or equivalent in experience, professional qualification or other evidence of considerable business intelligence, data management and analytical abilities
  • Have knowledge and experience of using a range of insight tools and techniques, including qualitative and quantitative analysis, statistical techniques and methodologies
  • Have the ability to build credible relationships and networks with stakeholders and managers from varying professional backgrounds
  • Have advanced IT skills with awareness of Power BI and apps to collate and analyse complex data
  • Have an excellent standard of written English
  • Be a team player with a positive can-do attitude

Closing date is Tuesday 2nd September, however may close early if there are high volumes of applications. Interviews will be held during the week starting 8th September or the week starting 15th September 2025.
