We're looking to appoint a Behaviour Support Assistant to become part of a committed team at a Secondary Alternative Provision based in Bury.
This is a full-time, temp-to-perm opportunity starting in September, offering the chance to work in a dynamic environment where every moment matters.
Position Overview
• Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant
• Location: Secondary Alternative Provision, Bury
• Start Date: September 2025
• Working Hours: Full-time - Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
• Contract Type: Expected to be temp-to-perm for the right person.
• Daily Pay: £95-£110 (dependent on experience)
• Payroll: Paid directly via Step Teachers (no umbrella companies)
• Pay Parity: Equal pay with permanent staff after 12 weeks

Your Responsibilities
• Provide in-class support for pupils with SEMH needs, Autism, and behavioural difficulties
• Use patience, resilience, and emotional intelligence to build rapport with vulnerable students
• Recognise signs of distress or triggers and apply calming strategies when needed
• Break down tasks into manageable steps to aid understanding and progress
• Offer one-on-one or general classroom support as needed
• Reinforce positive behaviour through encouragement and reward
• Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, families, and external professionals
• Help create a calm, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all students
