Contract Type: Full-time, term-time only (Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 15:15)

An outstanding specialist school in Bolton is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join their committed team from September 2025. The school caters for young people aged 11-19 with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), complex medical needs, and sensory impairments. With a strong focus on personalised learning, communication, and life skills, this is a truly rewarding setting where no two days are the same.
This is a full-time, long-term supply opportunity for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and supporting students with high levels of need. The school offers excellent facilities, integrated therapy teams, and a warm, collaborative staff culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting students with complex needs in small groups or on a 1:1 basis within a sensory-based and functional curriculum
- Assisting with personal care, feeding, medication routines, and moving & handling tasks (training provided)
- Supporting learners' communication using Makaton, AAC, PECS, or bespoke strategies
- Promoting emotional regulation and engaging students through play, music, and sensory activities
- Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and support staff to implement EHCP targets, care plans, and therapy goals
- Assisting with hydrotherapy or rebound therapy sessions, where required
You must:
- Have experience supporting individuals with PMLD, complex needs, or autism in a school, care or community setting
- Be confident with personal care duties and physical support including manual handling
- Be calm, empathetic, and committed to a person-centred approach
- Hold the right to work in the UK and be available full-time, Monday to Friday
- Hold or be willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS on the child and adult workforce (on the Update Service or newly processed)
Desirable (not essential):
- Training in Makaton, PECS, BSL or AAC communication tools
- Team-Teach, MAPA or other positive behaviour management certification
- A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or Health & Social Care
