Job Title: SENCo & Neurodiversity Support Lead – Female Estate
Location: HMP Peterborough
Contract Type: Full-Time

About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to lead the SEND and neurodiversity strategy across the female estate at HMP Peterborough, including the Mother and Baby Unit. This is a key leadership role, responsible for driving inclusive practice, improving learner outcomes, and ensuring that all residents with additional needs are identified, supported, and engaged in purposeful education, skills, and work activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on SEND strategy, support planning and delivery across the prison.

  • Manage the Neurodiversity Support Manager and SEND team.

  • Develop whole-prison approaches for SEND and neurodiversity inclusion.

  • Deliver and evaluate SEND interventions and staff training.

  • Work closely with stakeholders including healthcare, education, employment, and offender management teams.

  • Monitor SEND data and drive continuous improvement across provision.

About You:
Essential:

  • Qualified to degree level with proven experience leading in a SEND environment.

  • In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation, interventions, and support strategies.

  • Experience supporting adults with SEND, preferably in secure or complex settings.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

  • Passionate about rehabilitation and supporting marginalised learners.

Desirable:

  • SENCo qualification and experience in custodial settings.

  • Experience delivering staff training in SEND.
