Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to provide SEND support to ensure that every child succeeds.

This role will involve a mix of supporting the teacher and pupils in classroom lessons, as well as working with small groups of children or 1:1 session in our additional intervention spaces and a sensory room. As well as assisting with learning activities, you will also support with behaviour management and personal care.

You will be working with pupils of all ages, experience of working in the Early Years (nursery/reception) to support children working at this level would be beneficial but not essential.

You will be able to adapt the lesson/activity plan provided by the teacher to deliver tailored academic, social, and emotional support to children with special educational needs, fostering inclusion and independence.

Your close work with SEND students gives you valuable insights that can help teachers effectively communicate with therapists and families. This collaboration supports the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs), ensuring each pupil’s safety, engagement, and progress within a nurturing and well-structured environment.

We are looking for a LSA who:

• Holds a relevant NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
• Experience of working in the Early Years (nursery/reception) would be beneficial but not essential.
• Will be able to provide one-to-one, small group, and in-class support for students, under the direction of the class teacher and Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator.
• Will be confident and empathetic working with students who have a range of support needs, which can include physical, learning, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Will have good literacy, numeracy and interpersonal skills and have experience of supporting and working with students with a range of additional learning needs.
• Has suitable experience of working in a school environment with students and possesses an understanding of the importance of safeguarding children in a school setting.
