We are part Education Training Collective (Etc.), which is of a group of colleges and training providers in the Tees Valley; Stockton Riverside College, Redcar and Cleveland College, Bede Sixth Form College, NETA Training, Innersummit and The Skills Academy. Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs? Do you have the skills and resilience to support high needs learners as they navigate their next steps in education and personal development? Redcar and Cleveland Council has funded an exciting new alternative provision – the Transition Programme – aimed at supporting part-time learners with SEMH and additional needs within Further Education.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Transition Lecturer to deliver this innovative programme. You will play a vital role in creating a supportive and structured environment that enables learners to re-engage with education, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes. As a Transition Lecturer, you will be responsible for delivering personalised sessions that address the individual learning and emotional needs of learners with SEMH and high needs. You will work collaboratively with internal support teams and external agencies to provide a holistic approach to learner development.
Monitoring, assessing, and reporting on student progress will be a key part of your role, ensuring that each learner receives the support they need to succeed. You will also be expected to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment that promotes positive engagement. Additionally, you will contribute to the ongoing development and continuous improvement of the Transition Programme.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with SEMH and/or high needs learners in an educational or support setting. A recognised teaching qualification is required, or a willingness to work towards one. Strong communication skills, effective behaviour management strategies, and a high level of interpersonal competence are essential. Above all, you must demonstrate a firm commitment to inclusive education and the safeguarding of young people. It would be advantageous to have knowledge of Further Education frameworks and the processes surrounding Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Experience in delivering alternative provision or working within a therapeutic or trauma-informed approach is also highly desirable.
