Summary
Ambassadors Resourcing is looking to expand our team of experienced full-time SEND Teaching Assistants to work in temporary, short-term or long-term positions in special educational needs schools in Handsworth, Erdington, Tile Cross and surrounding areas of Birmingham. The roles involve supporting children with additional needs, including autism, ADHD and specific communication difficulties. Experience of Makaton, PECs and Team-Teach is preferable, but not essential.
Job Description:
• The successful SEND Teaching Assistants will:
• Have a passion and commitment to supporting children who have SEND
• Be confident in building effective relationships with pupils on a 1:1 basis
• Encourage pupils to interact with others
• Support teachers with planning, preparation and carrying out of inspiring
activities
• Have strong behaviour management skills
• Be flexible, dynamic and compassionate, with excellent interpersonal skills
• Encourage independence, helping the children with transition around school
and personal care
• Actively promote and support safeguarding of all children, ensuring that at all
times the policies and procedures of the schools and Ambassadors Resourcing
are observed and responsibilities are understood
Requirements:
• The successful SEND Teaching Assistants:
• Must have a Level 2 or Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in
Schools or the equivalent
• Must have experience and knowledge of working with pupils with autism and
SEND
• Should have previous experience of working in a special educational needs
school or a Resource Base
• Must have a legal right to work in the UK
• Must have/acquire an enhanced DBS and Overseas Police Clearances (if
applicable)
• Must provide 2 references covering the last 2 years, including one from a
professional childcare and education organisation that will be checked as part
of Ambassadors Resourcing safer recruitment process
• Will be subject to Check a Teacher’s Record and an online search as part of
Ambassadors Resourcing due diligence process
• Will attend a face to face interview which will include questions about
safeguarding and the candidate’s understanding of working with children.
